Migraines and headaches

It is important to understand that the treatment of headaches and migraines can be complex and individual. Many people have reported that certain dietary and lifestyle changes can help reduce the frequency and severity of migraine attacks.

There are three different types of headaches:

Tension headache: This work is pressing and grinding which is usually felt on both sides of the head.

Migraine: Intense headache that comes in fits and takes place on one side of the head. The attack can last for a few hours or up to several days.

Cluster headaches: These come in several periods of attacks one after the other. Where each attack lasts from 15 minutes to a few hours. Cluster headaches first appear with pain in or behind one eye

Headache: Then there are headaches that you can associate with infections such as colds.

According to The research pharmaceutical companies 1.5 million Swedes suffer from recurring headaches (migraines), where the WHO has classified it as one of the most difficult diseases to live with. Factors that trigger the migraine attacks are e.g. stress, lack of sleep, strong smells, loud noises and bright lights. The people who get migraines are both men and women, but in women it is three times more common. The cause is believed to be both hormonal and environmental, where there is usually a genetic link and heredity. Many people who suffer from migraine often have a relative who also has the same problem.

Here are our tips for preventing migraines and headaches in your everyday life:

1. Reduce stress: try to reduce the stress in your life by e.g. walking, yoga, relaxation exercises or mindfulness.

2. Regular exercise: Exercise can reduce tension in the body, but avoid intense exercise as it can trigger migraine attacks.

3. Sleep and meals: It is important that you get enough sleep and have regular meals. Lack of this can trigger migraines.

4. Eat clean and nutritious food which strengthens and heals the body. Good nutrition such as super food, fruit and vegetables help the body come into balance. We especially recommend Detox Deluxe and Belly Boost to strengthen the immune system and clear the cup of stored toxins.

5. Avoid triggers: Just as good nutrition can help you get rid of headaches, there are diets that can trigger or worsen them. This may include, for example, alcohol, processed food, energy drinks, fast food, sugar, coffee.

6. Check your birth control pills: Some birth control pills may not be suitable for those with migraines, so check with your doctor about this!

 7. Headache Diary: By using a headache diary, you can identify patterns, which can help you understand and prevent migraine attacks. Write down the date, what you did before the migraine, how you slept, what you ate, whether you were stressed and other factors that are relevant.

Here we have created a simple headache diary that you can print and fill in: Headache diary.pdf

Understanding what causes your migraine attacks and trying to make lifestyle changes based on this can help you reduce the risk of new attacks.
